After graduating from Kyoto University, Okamoto joined NHK in 1987. Appointed as a professor at the Graduate School of Tokyo University of the Arts in 2008. Serving as Vice President of Tokyo University of the Arts since 2017. Teaches and researches at the university, as well as produces NHK Education television programs “2355” and “0655.” She also deals with new expressions using new technology and media, for example, “TOKYO UNIVERSITY OF THE ARTS, DEPARTMENT OF GAMES – VERTICAL SLICE” (2018).
